Why was IRCForums created?
The reason IRCForums.net was created was because we (myself, Trixar_za as well as quite a few others) wanted a new place were we could share scripts, comment on each others work, discuss general IRC, help out those need helping, be able to freely comment on each others networks and generally just help each other out.

We also wanted a place were network representatives could privately discuss on-going matters in IRC, hopefully we could round up enough network representatives and discuss important topics. However this isn't ready yet, but will be in the next few weeks.

How is this different to SearchIRC & Hawkee?
Well it's different from SearchIRC, because SearchIRCs general focus is towards their indexing services, the majority of forum users on there ask for help with getting their network indexed and other related things. Not many users go their any more just to have some random dsccussions.

How is this different from Hawkee? Well Hawkee is a technology social network, not an IRC social network. Hawkee is now geared towards things like app development and is slowly moving away from IRC.

Why not just help out on another IRC forum?
Simply because I didn't want to interfere, and because they might not have wanted help. And also, there would have more than likely been a conflict of interest, I wanted to do things how I thought they should be done, no disrespect to any body else, but if I don't agree with how something is done on another website, how would I work a long side them?

Is IRCForums affiliated with IRC-Wiki?
In short, yes. IRC-Wiki.org is run & maintained primarily by myself and Trixar_za (As well as the fantastic contributors we have). IRCForums is also run by myself & Trixar_za, as well as Tappy & napa182 (And of course all of our members help out!). So naturally as myself and Trixar run the two projects, there was bound to be an affiliation between the two.

What do you hope to achieve with IRCForums?
Well, we hope to create a friendly community with a good atmosphere. We would like people to come here, whether they are IRC newbies or not, and be able to have a laugh, as well as get help if needed, and discuss what ever IRC topics pop up.

We don't want any users to feel unwelcome, or put off for any reason. So we have made sure we have friendly moderators, who will help users what ever their knowledge is, with what ever they can help with.

All in all, we want to be the best all purpose IRC community on the internet, and we want to make sure everybody who joins has a good time here.
